Fort Worth Real Estate: Mistletoe Heights

Fort Worth Real Estate: Mistletoe Heights

Sometimes the market or neighborhood is so hot you don’t get much opportunity to advertise what you are selling. Such was the case with the home Kimball Real Estate recently sold in the Mistletoe Heights neighborhood of Fort Worth, located at 2208 Weatherbee Street. In this instance, a neighbor approached and made an offer as the home was being readied for market, so it never even had a chance to get listed!

On this particular street, four homes have been owned by Kimballs: three by J. R. and Mary Jo and one by J. R.’s parents, Aubrey (or Pop) and Pearl (Nanny). J. R. and Mary Jo were even responsible for building the house at 2216 Weatherbee, complete with a hard-to-find-in-North-Texas basement. In fact, when Shelby was born, they brought him home to Weatherbee Street, and there he lived until graduating from Paschal High School in 1995. He probably mowed more than half the yards in the street when he was a kid!

There are a few long-term residents left on Weatherbee, but the 100 year old home at 2208 will welcome a new owner soon, as the previous owners, after living there for over 20 years, recently retired to the country. We love working on the old street, because we get to drop by and talk to some of the neighbors and friends we have sold houses to, or lived near, for years. Shelby still takes his kids to play at the fantastic Lily B. Clayton Elementary just down the block, and it is hard sometimes not to go “home” to Weatherbee Street just to relax a minute while in the area.

We hope the new owner enjoys this historic home, and we hope to buy and sell more homes on Weatherbee and in Mistletoe Heights for years to come!
